Hidden in Plain Sight

My personal and professional experience has shown that so much is hidden in plain sight. That's why I am so proud to lead and serve through the Christian Job Corps of Gillespie County to provide essential tools and education to empower men and women for life and employment in a Christian environment.

We may never know what a person is experiencing when we cross their path - hidden in plain sight and possibly suffering from hunger, abuse, medical crisis, homelessness or working multiple jobs. CJCGC is blessed to compliment the immediate relief services of the Needs Council, Good Samaritan, Grace Center, Fredericksburg Food Pantry and area churches.

Help us reach those hidden in plain sight by raising the last $2,200 for the Board Leadership Matching Campaign! Your monthly pledge or donation will be doubled - $5 + $5, $25 + $25, $100 + $100!

The reasons men and women come to CJCGC for help include:

  • Missing qualifications for a better job

  • Desire to start on the right path

  • Missing the hard skills needed for the job wanted

  • Live without a community of support to get back on track

  • Work one or more jobs that don't utilize skills and abilities

  • Breadwinner for many and need to do better

  • New to town and looking to find a job as soon as possible

  • Improve English-speaking skills

  • Learn how to go from a grease monkey to the white-collar world

And these are just the ones who come and find us! There are more hidden in plain sight just like the first 146 clients and interns. These individuals don't even know that help is available or where to go.

  • Purchase advertising and produce materials to get the word out

  • Employ interns while they work toward their God-given purpose

  • Training materials and supplies for GED tutoring, computer skill classes and soft skill workshops
